Breastfeeding protects children from asthma

A recent study was done by researchers from Switzerland and the United Kingdom has proved that breastfeeding improves lung functions in children, especially if their mothers have asthma, this is according to what was published in the " American Magazine of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine " .

The researchers studied and analyzed data on 1458 children, born between 1993 and 1997 in the United Kingdom, and they rated the duration of breastfeeding and symptoms of breathing and some measurements of the lung functions such as "FVC" and "FEV1" at the age of school entry, and the results showed that children born to mothers infected with asthma have lungs functions which are improved when breastfeeding continued for more than six months, oppose to what was thought that breastfeeding may be harmful to children born to mothers infected with asthma .

The study added that this is not the last discoveries of the researchers. They discovered that breastfeeding may have a direct effect in the help of lungs growth .
