Relation between smoking cigarettes and heart diseases

Smoking Cigarettes and Heart Diseases
A professor of heart surgery explains that studies continues in many countriesas as ( USA _ canada _ Sweden )  for long years and proved that the percentage of myocardial infarction and death of the people who smoke is more than the percentage of the people who don't smoke by 60% , and this danger increases by increasing the amount of cigarettes which are smoken daily , specially above twenty cigarettes, and the Filter in this cigarettes doesn't decrease this danger !!

The percentage of infarction decreases when you stop smoking radically , it is also decreases when the patients who exposed to myocardial infarction - due to other reasons as ( high blood pressure , diabetes ) - do stop smoking ,this case INCLUDES MEN AND WOMEN.

Effect of smoking

Smoking also affect the heart and other vital organs strongly as :
  • Nicotine increases the need of oxygen to the heart muscle.
  • CO ( carbon monoxide ) that results from the burning of cigarettes increases the oxygen needed for the heart muscle.
  • CO also affects  percentage of Hemoglobin of the blood that carries Oxygen changing it into Carboxy hemoglobin that can't carry oxygen .
  • Smoking increases the viscosity of blood platelets is one of the causes of atherosclerosis to smokers.
Though platelets viscosity is necessary for adhesion of platelets to the wall lining the arteries, but at the same time, it is responsible for blood clotting in arteries ( atherosclerosis ) and accumulation of cholesterol on them. This viscosity is reduced when smokers stop smoking.
  • It is proven that smoking reduces the rates of some types of cholesterol needed for the body, which reduces the risk of injury myocardial infarction
  •  Also, it is proven that smoking decrease the proportion of some basic materials in blood, which help prevent bleeding when it occurs. And the normal ratio level is no longer obtained unless after several years from quitting.
  • It also affects the lung and leads to its Fibrosis, so you should quit smoking immediately from this bad habit, which is a type of long-term suicide.
